Chris Froome In Contention For Vuelta

Chris FroomeChris Froome is looking strong in the Team Sky jersey this week as he bids to get a podium finish in the Vuelta a Espana.  After just eight days of competition, things are looking very undecided, as the red jersey has changed hands on numerous occasions so far.  With no one team dominating the title is still up for grabs and someone could easily get themselves into the record books this week!

With stage nine just over, Andorra to Barcelona, this week will bring a little bit of rest bite to the GC riders as there are some flat stages on the horizon.  There are however 3 big mountain stages and an all important time trial taking place this week, and one of the top riders could take it by the scruff of the neck and leave the field behind.  This is unlikely however, as the top 3 or 4 riders are very evenly matched.  Goaquim Rodriguez is currently leading with a gap of around 50 seconds to the brit and almost one minute over his Spanish compatriot – Alberto Contador.  Alejandro Valverde is also in with a chance on his home race – a fierce competitor and an experienced athlete.  Chris Froome however will be confident that he can take the lead with his scintillating time trial form and do one better than his second place finish last year!
