Cycling Gloves – The Bike Expert

Not everyone uses cycling gloves and to be honest most people don’t need them either. In road cycling, cycling gloves aren’t that popular especially with amateur riders. Some professionals; Mark Cavendish for example like to use gloves and it’s really a matter of personal preferences. Some riders hands cut up very easy and some people just sweat more than others – everyone has their own reasons.
Cycling gloves however are a lot more common in mountain biking sports like downhill and enduro, where your body is being tested to it’s limits on every ride and through every corner. In these sports there is a lot more sharp turning and bumps from the rough terrain. This means that your hands will be rubbing along the handlebars more than usual, creating more friction and possibly burning your hands.
Most cycling gloves are very cheap, and you’ll struggle to find a pair over a tenner. However, some more expensive brands do offer more comfort and more proteccion at premium prices. This extra protection is only necessary when your competing at the very highest levels and pushing your body through the pain barrier with every pedal and turn. In all other scenarios, a normal pair of cycling gloves will do just fine.
