Felt Pyre – Felt Manic

Felt Manic 2011Felt have started to make a number of BMX bikes; both ‘Allround’ and ‘Race’ bikes, so that they’re is something to suit everyone.  The Felt Pyre for example is the best of the worst bikes so to speak and then you have the Felt Manic which isn’t far behind on terms of quality, performance and price.  I will go through each of them and differentiate between the two.

The Felt Pyre is starting to edge it’s way into the higher class of BMX’s and you would even say that it looks like a top of the range bike.  With a stylish and clean finish, the Felt Pyre looks the part, but does it ride well?  For that, we need to take a look at the components and materials involved. With the same steel alloy as the other all round bikes, it’s still quite heavy at 22.9 pounds, but with different brakes and cranks, the Pyre should perform to a higher level than the rest.

The Felt Manic on the other hand doesn’t quite look like the sort of bike that you would go for just for the looks.  It is pictured above, and to be honest, the Felt Manic does ride the way it looks, not very well!  It’s not a big step up from the other bikes in the range which is disappointing, but it’s still relatively cheap and may be worth the money in the end.
