Maxxis Minion – DH Tyres
The Maxxis Minion is a downhill tyre from Maxxis – who are one of the most popular and highest quality bicycle component manufacturers this century. The Maxxis Minion was designed back in 2001 by Colin Bailey, a professional mountain biker who rides for the Maxxis Team. The Minion has stood the test of time, still going string over 11 years on with only a few minor adjustments.
Since the Maxxis Minion was designed by one of the top downhill pro riders of it’s generation, it’s sure to be a tyre that performs well and does it’s job correctly. It is described as being ‘fast rolling’ however, still ‘super grippy’. This is exactly what you want in any downhill tyre, and with the Minion, it comes as standard procedure!
Maxxis have a number of different compounds for their mountain bike tyres which can all be used on the Maxxis Minion. These three components are, hard, soft and then softer! The material that you use completely depends on the terrain and the trails that you will be tackling. All the top riders and even some of the amateurs will have tyres like the Maxxis Minion with every possible material; therefore, they can choose before each ride and race what the perfect tyre will be for this track.
