Mountain Bike – The Bike Expert

Mountain BikeMountain bikes, which are also termed in a plain way as MTB, are used for general off-road purposes like going across different and distinct places including rocky surfaces, rustic countryside areas, dirt tracks or uphill and downhill movements. The production of mountain bikes is done with detailed attention and precision, as these bikes have to hold out the pressures of the paths through which they are supposed to run. The most common and popular mountain bike is with a wheel base of 26 inches, which is manufactured according to the ISO specifications.

As a general principle the tyres used in almost all mountain bikes will be having a little bit wider shape, as well as rigid nature and will have plenty of lumps all over the surface; these precautions are taken for getting the maximum grip, while riding through uneven grounds and for attaining the utmost shock absorption. Just around the beginning of the 1990s mountain bikes with front wheel suspension became highly popular and many of the riders began to opt for that; again within three to four years, mountain bikes with front and rear suspension became the passion of majority of the riders.

As time rolled by, many more new additional types of mountain bikes began to capture the attention of all serious bicycle riders; some of the attention grabbing ones were the all-day biking, down-hill biking, cross country biking and free-ride biking. At the present time you can even get mountain bikes which are made according to the rider’s special needs and necessities. You can also find mountain bikes which are specially made to suite the desires and requirements of women. One thing has to be specially mentioned here; if you are opting for the cheaper varieties of mountain bikes, there is every possibility that they will lack the required quality or strength with respect to the suspension and brakes etc; so, in case you are opting for such a mountain bike, then you must definitely see that there is enough provision in it for later up-gradation.
