Vuelta A Espana – Stage 13 Highlights
Steve Cummings had a fantastic ride today to claim the stage win. Britains Cummings pulled of a remarkable ride to give him his best ever result. Cummings the BMC rider was absolutley delighted with the win after soom poor results of late and a number of relativley high profile injury problems that has hindered his success inisde the last 3-6 months of racing. Hopefully winning this stage has instilled some confidence back into Cummings, who is a fantastic rider and working with one of the great teams in BMC, of course along side 2011 Tour de France champ – Cadel Evans.
Stage 13 today saw the riders make their way from Santiago de Compostela to the beautiful town of Ferriol. It was a fairly flat stage, especially compared to what is coming up on Sunday through to Tuesday, and totalled 173km – certainly not the hardest of stages but challenging all the same. As predicted by many experts yesterday, including ourselves here at the-bike-expert.com, the stage was won by a breakaway group. Steve managed to get himself in the mix of things with 6 other riders, then broke away in fanatic style with only 3km to go. He stayed strong on the sprint finished and managed to pick up his first Vuelta stage win of the year – well done Steve!
